Myocardial infarction occurs when a thrombus is formed in coronary blood vessels and the hearth of ischemic necrosis starts forming. Much more rarely cases occur when myocardial infarction calls long term spasmodic stretches of coronaries. The most important reason for this pathologic process is atherosclerotic phenomena of coronary heart blood vessels. Most often people fall ill at the age of 40-60 years. Besides the atherosclerotic process developing in heart blood vessels at this age the myocardial muscle is very depending on the functional tension of the body and sudden changes in neuropsychological condition.

Symptoms and process: The patient complains about pain behind the heart bone and in the area of heart. This pain is very intense and hardly suffered. But this is one of the most important features of myocardial infarction. Before getting ill the angina attacks become more often. Differently from angina the disease of myocardial infarction is characterized by longer pain (from several hours up to 2-3 days). Later the pain acquires the shape of constant (consistent) pressure. This pain is most often transferred to left hand and less rarely – to both hands evenly and in especially rare cases – only to the right hand. The irradiation (diffusion) of pain under the shoulder can misguide diagnosing the illness. Comparatively quite rarely myocardial infarction manifests without any pain only by repeating attacks of choke.

Pain occurring during myocardial infarction the pain does not pass not only by taking nitroglycerin, but sometimes – even from narcotic medicine. Other symptoms, sometimes even hardly suffered by the patient occur together with pain and are related to internal, pathological changes in the heart. That is strong anxiety, fear of death, choke, nausea, much urination, more perspiration, on the 1st or 2nd day of hearth formation the temperature arisen keeps from 3 up to even 7 days. In slightly more complicated cases of inflammation, in case of complications the body temperature is about 38°C and can be even higher when especially large areas of necrotizing tissue are formed. In case of sudden myocardial infarction disease the pulse is very tense, but weak.

Massage and therapeutic gymnastics are supposed to be one of the most necessary complex elements in contemporary myocardial infarction treatment methodology. These procedures carry out the toning function, protect against the progressing jamming of blood vessels, improve the coronary and peripheral blood circulation of the body, help to maintain the positive emotional state of the patient and gradually encourage its transference from complete peace regime up to the normal (more active) way of life and return work efficiency. If the therapeutic gymnastic exercises can be started only on the 2nd-3rd week from the beginning of disease (sudden period), massage can be started earlier: on the second – third day (when the body temperature reaches the usual limit). This is because therapeutic gymnastics requires active efforts of the patient’s will and that is not necessary for massage.

Massage is as if certain passive gymnastics very necessary for muscles and blood vessels, since it influences the expansion of coronary blood vessels and positively influences the peripheral network of capillaries connecting the whole blood circulation system into a solid reflexogenic zone. When spasms of coronary heart veins are released and also during effect of classical, reflexogenic – segmental or trigger spot massage and physical therapy procedures, the pain releases (or disappears), feeding of heart muscles and metabolism in tissues is improved, regeneration processes are taking place quicker.

    Purpose of massage:

    1. Pain release and elimination.
    2. Coronary heart blood vessels are expanded.
    3. Prevention and removal of jamming possibilities.
    4. Heart activity is improved.
    5. Blood circulation improves in peripheral part of blood vessel system.
