    Diabetes mellitus develops when insufficiency of pancreas function occurs as a consequence of psychological or physical injuries, too much stress, infections, sclerotic phenomena in pancreas vessels, surfeit. The lack of insulin in the body causes disturbances of carbon circulation – insufficient absorption of carbohydrates acquired with food. When circulation of carbohydrates disconcerts, hyperglycemia (increase of sugar quantity in  blood) and glycosuria (removal of sugar with urine) develop in muscular and lever cells.

    When muscular cells are not able to fully absorb carbohydrates, working capacity of a person reduces. All these phenomena cause the general atony of the whole body.

    Men become ill with diabetes mellitus at the age of 30-60, especially those who work sitting. The illness manifests by the increase of appetite, thirst, bigger quantity of urine, adinamy (weakness of muscles) features, skin itches. Because of increased removal of liquids from the body, the skin and surface of mucous membrane gets dry. Resistance of the body to infections reduces and therefore furunculosis often occurs. Sores recover slowly, trophic  ulcer may open, diabetic polyneuritis, neuralgias, radiculitis, artralgy are noticed in such patients. Physical and sexual maturation is delayed, growth disconcerts for children and teenagers.

    General body massage is applied to patients with diabetes mellitus which is carried out at medium intensity applying all massage actions.

    Purpose of massage: improvement of metabolism in the body, stimulation of pancreas ferment  insulin maintaining the function of pancreas, activation of insulin additionally inserted to the body, encouragement of glycogen formation in level and absorption of carbohydrates in muscular cells, support of working capacity of a person.
